Environmental Health Consulting

Dr. Lara C. Pullen is the president of Environmental Health Consulting (EHC). Her goal is to provide scientific expertise and analytical skills to the clear communication of complex ideas in health, medicine, and science.

Dr. Pullen earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology/Immunology from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, IL and performed postdoctoral research at the University of Chicago. Her thesis work focused on a viral mouse model of multiple sclerosis (MS). While in graduate school she performed some of the first research indicating that a bacterial infection may increase susceptibility to MS.

She left medical research to join U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as an Environmental Health Scientist/Human Health Risk Assessor. During that time she became an expert on endocrine disruptors and helped to plan the 1997 Great Lakes Endocrine Disruptor Symposium.

After leaving EPA, Dr. Pullen turned her communication skills to medical writing. She has written about the treatment and prevention of autoimmune diseases, rheumatic diseases, attention deficit disorder, growth hormone deficiency, cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, menopause, and infectious disease including Ebola. While Dr. Pullen primarily writes for physicians, she is passionate about communicating science to many different audiences.
